Consultation Period From:
Consultation Period End: 7 October 2003
Decision Date: 24 October 2003
Case Officer: Robert Peel
Decision: Refused - Planning
This decision is subject to the following conditions:
The proposed rear extension would result in an unsympathetic addition to the existing dwelling by way of its scale, massing and height and its close proximity to the boundaries to the adjoining properties. This would result in overlooking and loss of privacy from the proposed balcony to the rear garden of 'Greenways'. The proposed first floor extension would result in a very large blank wall over 5 metres high and extending to 6 metres in length adjoining the boundary with 'Treetops' which would be harmful to the amenity of the occupiers of 'Treetops'. It would therefore fail to comply with policies SUR9, SUR1A AND GD2 of the Wychavon District Local Plan Revised Deposit and the Council's adopted Supplementary Planning Guidance 'House Extensions Advice Note'.
The addition of a pitched roof as proposed would have a harmful impact on the character, appearance and architectural style of this unusual period property, which contributes to the variety of dwellings in this row of inter-war properties. The proposal would therefore fail to comply with Policy GD2 of the Wychavon District Local Plan Revised Deposit.
